Nothing dates a Houston house faster than a popcorn ceiling, and nothing makes a bigger difference for the money than taking it off. It is a messy job done right and a disaster done wrong — the room has to be sealed off completely, the ceiling scraped without gouging the board underneath, then floated smooth and retextured or left flat before it is painted.
Our Process
Seal the Room
Floors, walls and openings are sealed off before a scraper touches the ceiling. This is most of the job.
Scrape
The texture comes off wet so it lifts cleanly instead of tearing the paper on the drywall underneath.
Float & Sand
The ceiling is floated and sanded until it is genuinely flat — ceilings show every ripple under a light.
Finish & Paint
New texture goes on if you want it, then the ceiling is primed and painted and the protection comes out.
